When is a KFT Used?

A KFT is typically performed in the following situations:

• Screening for Kidney Disease: In individuals with risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of kidney disease.
• Monitoring Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): To assess the progression of kidney disease in people already diagnosed with kidney issues.
• Post-Surgery or Medication Monitoring: To assess kidney function in patients taking medications that could impact kidney health, such as NSAIDs or certain antibiotics.
• Acute Kidney Injury (AKI): If kidney function is suddenly impaired, as might occur in cases of dehydration, infection, or severe illness.
